I agree Nancy...the tomatoes here have NO flavor. I've griped about it since moving here. LOL But, so has hubby and he eats a tomato every day. Our garden has 'really' taken hold. Will try and get some newer pics later. I wish we could plant earlier, we have to wait for a while before ours yeilds anything besides the strawberries and Rhubarb. I eat tomatoes every day when they are out of the garden, but only use the store bought ones when I need them for a recipe.

Updated photos taken today 5-30. That's one potato from the garden...hubby dug up about 7, but the next door neighbor (84) seen them and went to her. She's watching the bean plants daily. ;D POLE BEANS TOMATO PLANTS CORN AND SQUASH (BUTTERNUT AND ACORN) * If you can see the fence by the corn it will give you an idea of the corns height. The fence is 36".

I posted the first pics on 5/11. I was surprised to see how much the squash had grown.
'Course I don't go meandering around out in the garden either. ;D

How do you keep the weeds out? Ours always seems to grow weeds as fast as the vegetables. It's really hard to keep on top of them because I have back problems and can't do much in the garden and Jim is so busy it's hard for him to get out there every night. Do you put anything down between the rows? If anybody has any advice on keeping the weeds out let me know.

Great looking garden! I am amazed at how much those tomato plants grew. Did you use Miracle Grow on them. I have used a general Miracle Grow for the lawn but never tried the tomato one.

We have very few weeds Nancy. Our ground is mostly chirt (like hard red clay...and I mean hard). John rototills it every 3 days. He said to tell you he just doesn't allow them to grow. LOL There's nothing between the rows, but I do know there's a polypropylene you can put down that helps.
Doreen...last night he sprayed with Miracle Grow for the first time. Like I said before...he waters it daily.
Dave...he would love a farm. But he wants chickens and the whole gambit. Damn...I'm a city girl. But if he wants to find a farm in MICHIGAN then I'd start canning again.

Looks good Linda... I planted our garden about the middle of May... Then we had rain almost every day since..The corn is about 2" high..but I think some rotted in thr ground.. but that will save me from thinning it.. I thin it to about one foot between plants...Oh..tell your hubby the tomato cages are upside down.. The pointy things go into the ground.. ;D

But she said they had clay ground, they might not go in too easily.
