Use any cheap pieces of lamb for this dish, very economical. Freezes well.
6, lamb steaks, cut in chunks (any amount will do) 1 each of - turnip, and carrot, chopped. (any root vegetable will do) 1 onlion 2 stock cubes in two pints water. Approx. handful of mushrooms. cut on slices Pinch of rosemary, basil, paprika pepper and garlic. (any or all) Oil or fat
Cut onion and gently cook in oil or fat, put in large casserole dish. Cut meat in chunks and toss in hot oil or fat to colour. Put in dish. Toss mushrooms slightly in oil or fat and add to dish. Cover all with stock and sprinkle with the herbs, pepper etc Make sure liquid covers meat. Stir well. Simmer in over for two hours on 360C. Remove and add some frozen peas or a tin, stir in. Thicken with a little cornflour or similar and stir in about 1/2 pint of made bisto gravy (or similar) Replace in oven for 1 hour.
cheers Penny
Forgot to say use lid with casserole dish.
