Thought this recipe very interesting. Well over a hundred years old. Found by our local squire.
Toast and butter 3 or 4 slices of bread , on both sides. Spread anchovy paste on the buttered toast Put slices on top of one another
Beat yolks of 4 eggs , season and add 1/2 pint of cream. Heat in pan gently but do not boil
When thickened, pour over the toast and serve very hot. .
