I started using FF about a week ago. I'm I have to log in here and another couple of forums daily. Sometimes several times a day. Even if I log in forever. I didn't have this problem on IE. I don't turn my computer off at night but if it goes into sleep mode, then I need to log in again. That's the only thing I've noticed. How can I get this fixed so I don't have to keep logging in. I do delete history and Temporary Internet files. I don't delete my cookies but did the very first time. Now I don't.

I sign in early morning using FF and I'm on all day. Are you by any chance going to another site in the same tab?? You have to open new sites in a new tab if you don't want to close the forum tab. Sometimes you can 'go back' and the forum will still be open.
If your 'sleep mode' is set to shut the hard drive off after 'x' amount of time (mine is set to shut off after 15 min.) then you'll have to sign back in when you 'wake up' your computer.

Thanks Linda. Yes I do reuse the same tab for most everything as I did with IE. Yes, my sleep mode is the same as yours. I didn't have to sign in just now and I reused a tab I was on Facebook. Guess you answered my question. I don't like having to sign in again but that's ok. Life is too short to worry about these little things.

If you use separate tabs it's much easier, but since you didn't, after you sign out of FB, just keep hitting the go back arrow at the top. Eventually (after you go through about 2 or three screens, it will bring you back to the board without having to sign back in.
I just find it much easier to open other sites in new tabs.

Good idea keeping all my usage of JFTFOI on one tab. I do got back on arrow quite a bit. Thanks again. Apppreciate your help.

I don't know what the answer is, but I haven't had to sign in on any computer in months. I shut down the laptop and reboot all the time,
I use Firefox mostly, but as Santa I used Flock which is a similar browser and it signs me in automatically as Santa still when I opened it. So much so I didn't notice and even posted last week before I was totally awake. Under tools options, I have Don't clear my private data, if I had to sign in I would be frustrated as well.

Tools/options/Don't clear my private data
Doreen, do you have Vista? I looked under tools/options but can't find the "Don't clear my private data." Can you give me more specific directions?

on firefox/ mozilla, top row AFTER BOOKMARKS, before Help. drop down from Tools to bottom, OPTIONS>
privacy... accept cookies and keep until they expire
under the exceptions list you can add some of the sites you don't want, or tweak these, when you clear your cookies or use crap cleaner check that the sites you want to keep your info in are listed not to be deleted.
If you can't get it PM me your phone number and maybe I can walk you through it easier.

I don't see it. Do you? When I click on exceptions, Proboards is there. But isn't that to KEEP the cookies for that site? It's been clicked all along.

settings in firefox. I have not signed in on this name but once or twice. made sure click to leave me signed in forever when I originally signed in. run c-cleaners regularly. I don't let IE start if I can help it, so to compare the two I am of no help. I have used AOL browser but never on this computer. I have it installed on the DT only.

Settings on FF. I have an older version it appears. If it works I don't upgrade sometimes. I wish I knew what to tell you, where to go, what to set. Perhaps post some of your in the Question and answer at WS. many members there are users of FF and know all the tweaks. Highly recommend not to use IE.

I do sign in "forever" but it makes no difference. I don't have c-cleaners. I've gone to WS and asked but so far nothing helps. I'm about to give up on it and go back to IE. But IE won't connect on tabs most of the time. That's why I wanted to try FF but have had nothing but problems. Thanks Doreen for trying.

You had some issues with display as well, so I went to adjust things in Vista. I have vista home basic and changed the appearance settings and some of mine were messed up like yours were as well.
Windows vista standard, vista basic, windows standard and classic are no problem, but found I wasn't impressed with the High Contrast.
check what your settings are and if makes a difference. I've been trying to see what to get rid of to log in. I would be in a mess as I must have 40 sites saved, and I would have troubles if I had to remember all the user names and passwords. lol
