Does anyone know how to copy a VCR tape to a DVD? I have software that says you can do that, but I can't find a way to hook the VCR up to my laptop to do it.

every laptop is different in what connections it can handle. My bigger laptop has video and audio input plugin, also a HD cable. video cables direct is probably the easiest, it would have to be on your hard drive and converted to mpeg to burn to dvd. www.videohelp.comabsolutely the easiest way is to put the vcr to the dvd recorder if you have one.

Doreen, I just realized that I never thanked you for this info. I still haven't figured it out, but I appreciate you giving me the site anyway.

your welcome. I know the easiest way was a dvd recorder, and we hooked a vcr recorder to it and ran the two machines.
I paid $29 for a DVD recorder, but now they are more expensive as they do upscaling for HD and also BLUE RAY disks.. mine is a basic burning a dvd disk, my neighbor did all her old VHS tapes as well.
AMazon has one for $27... the other option is if you have a TV card in your computer, you can hooke up the cables from the VCR just as if you were hooking to a tv, and then run a program that captures the video on your computer, and then burn to disk.
I hope you can get it done,

Thanks Doreen. I downloaded it, but haven't had a chance to play with it. Does this copy a VCR tape to a DVD? That's what I'm trying to do, but wasn't sure how to do it.

you would have had to install it that day as well or it won't install as it was only for that day.
easiest way is to get VCR tape and DVD recorder hooked together.

I did install it also, just haven't had a chance to do anything else with it. I just realized something though, I think I installed it on the wrong computer. I meant to install it on my laptop where I have the other software, and instead I installed it on my desktop.
