We used to have a big garden but not anymore. We just have a potted garden off the side of our deck with a couple tomato's & peppers. We also grow all our own herbs, Rosemary, Basil, Chives, Thyme, Parsley and Mint. I feed them Miracle Grow every week. Everything is doing great. We've been using the herbs and the pepper plants have lots of little peppers on them and still blossems. The tomato's seem to be really going nuts this year. They're already about 4ft high and have about a dozen green tomato's on them and there's blossems everywhere on them. They're Early Girl tomato's.

It's so nice to be able to just step off the back porch to get fresh tomatoes, peppers and fresh herbs. What a difference fresh herbs make in a recipe.

Neat spot for everything. That would be nice to have what herbs you need growing right outside your door. Makes for a pretty setting.

Another tip for growing stuff in containers - try planting potatoes in a barrel. Fill the first foot of the barrel with manure & plant a few sprouting pots in it; then add another few inches & plant some more, until you fill the barrel (several layers). Drill some holes near the bottom of the barrel for drainage. Like this, you'll get various layers of potatoes when the time is right, and all you have to do is empty out the barrel & harvest them!
