Hi all, I'm looking for a good place to buy Mexican rustic furniture, specifically the leather set pictured. I've found the stuff state-side (usually in tourist traps or oh-so-fancy import furniture stores) but the prices are way higher than I can afford. I'd hit Tijuana, but don't know where to look there. Any advice would be helpful.

Yeah, I was hoping he'd read it and fill me in on the best deal stores.

Can't you just find someone who speaks Spanish and have them ask some of the illegals to have some sent over?

You're welcome Bill. That way Doc will check it out.
Heck..I'd look around down here because we have so many, but it's all restaurants...no furniture shops that I've seen.

Bill-
The best place for that kind of stuff is in Rosarito. That's on the coast, about 20 minutes south of my house. My brother in law runs down there a lot more than I do, so I'll ask him if he knows if there's anyone down there selling sets like the one you're looking for. If so, I'll take a run down there, and try to see what kind of pricing exists.
You may already be aware, you NEED to haggle. They'll ask $300 for something, that if you handle it right, you can walk out paying $125 for.
I'll let you know what I find out.

Bill-
What is the top surface on the table? Also leather? Or wood? I think I've seen them with bevelled glass tops, most often. Occasionally, I've seen leather tops, but don't think I've ever seen one with wood.

Hi Doc and thanks. The top is leather, as well as the sides of the chairs. The style is called "Equipale." Yeah, I'm familar with the way business gets done down there. LadyD: Thanks for the info. I've all ready found the "mexico Direct" site and will take a lok at the other you posted.

But last weekend my BIL went down to Ensenada, and says he saw one of wicker and leather for $150. He said it looked kind of cheap(quality) to him, and figured it wasn't worth but half that. four chairs with it...they were pretty flimsy.
