You'll notice that threads will have a "NEW" icon by them if there are new posts you haven't yet read in that thread. Let's say you've read all you want to for the day, and would like to reset those and say everything has been read - either in a particular board, or the entire forum. If you scroll down to the bottom of a particular board, you'll see a "mark as read" icon on the right side. (This is also on the top of each board - but NOT at the top of the main page which lists all the boards). Clicking it will mark everything on that particular board as having been read, thus clearing any "new" icons for it at the time. Still, any other new posts after that will continue to be marked as new. I've noticed that every now and then things get marked as new - even when it's been a couple weeks since it's been posted in. This might be another reason you might like to do this. The "mark as read" button only clears the info for that one particular board -- and NOT any sub-boards to it. If you're on the main page however (which lists all the boards -- playground, chat room, computer, game room, etc.), THAT "mark as read" icon will clear all new buttons for the entire forum. I hope I was clear enough for that to make sense to everyone!
