Do you transplant later somewhere or keep them in the pails and pots. You are not the only one that does this.

At least Dave got the tomato cages the right side up... Not like Linda's hubby... I noticed that but never said anything ;D No Doreen thats how we do our garden now. No time to take care of a big garden any more. Just a few plants off the side of the porch.

Hey Deb... you'll have tomatoes. *And he grew up on a farm. In all fairness to him...he's never used tomato stands before. On the farm they just let them grow 'wherever'. Bet he doesn't do that next year though

We started using the cages a couple of years ago. We grew up using wooden stakes and tying them with strips of old rags as they grew. I think the cages are much better for the plants and sure are a lot nicer to look at.

The tomatoes I grow are all staking ones. They grow 5' or more so I use old hockey sticks.. put 4 around each plant...then use strips from old bicycle inner tubes and wrap around them..then the have room to grow.. ;D

The only thing I planted was tomatoes. Several of them, but the gophers pulled 3 down to the tunnels with in the 1st 3 days, not sure who or what ate 2 more off, they died and 2 more just keeled over yesterday. Looks like the gophers ate the roots underneath, but these wilted and looked like they hadn't had water, but plants right next to them look fine.
Still working on a few plants randomly placed due to the length of time I want them to live. I have some in 'shadier' areas, south side of house, and they won't burn off in August, but I will get tomatoes til Christmas from them. Others in hotter areas will give tomatoes soon, already blossoms growing.
