Using the Ad-Aware SE Personal program. Almost weekly I have a notification for updates, and I can run it. For the past two weeks it says my updates are 'x' days old and when I try to run them it doesn't work.
Last week I went to the Lavasoft site to get them.
Has anyone else had a problem??

I just tried to get updates, like yours mine said no definitions available. I went to their website and can't find any updates either. I did find this though. lavasoft.com/support/supportcenter/I'm downloading the free version of Ad-Aware 2007 now, I don't know if it will replace the outdated one or if I'll have to remove it. I'll let you know.

All done, it uninstalled the Ad-Aware SE version. All good to go now. Thanks for bringing this up Linda.

I'll try it, but I've had it installed before and it was a PITA.
Thanks JoAnne.

I couldn't get into the site last night, but it was because of the weather here. Thanks again, JoAnne. I've used that program for years.

At work, I tried to update the older version today, but it just said the update failed, so I assume it was because it's the older version. I didn't have time to download the new version to replace it.

Enjoy your high speed Linda! Just let us know if you have questions. I used the new version on a computer I was working on this past week, and didn't have any problems, and I ought to upgrade the version on my computer too anyway.

This is what the lavasoft site lists for supported OS's for the new version:
Operating Systems Windows Vista (32-bit), Windows XP (Home and Pro), Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 (Pro and Server)
I guess even though ME is "better" than 2000 (even though it's not actually better).
Does ME have a compatibility mode you can run programs in? If so, maybe you can try running the installer and the program in compatibility mode for Windows 2000.

ME is "better" than 2000 in the sense that it's newer. It's not exactly "better" as in working better, etc. than Windows 2000 though.

OK. In Windows XP and Vista, there is a compatibility feature built-in where you can tell Windows to act like an older version of Windows for a program so it runs properly. I don't THINK ME has that, but I'm not 100% sure on that since I've never really used ME for anything.
As for a downgrade to 2000, yes, but not for free. Well, not legally anyways. One "option" if you wanted it bad enough would be an upgrade to XP - but I think that runs around $100 or so.
Does that make any more sense?
